Cute! I love the look on Elliot's face when she's holding the hammer. Can you believe that people don't eat their gingerbread houses here? I'm sure some people must but from the many blogs I read in the lead up to Christmas that offered shortcuts for making gingerbread houses (using a hot glue gun to stick on the candy for example!) it seems that they're mostly just for decoration. When I questioned this on one of my favourite blogs (I commented that surely the hot glue gun glue would be toxic!) I got a barrage of people responding that they're not for eating. Weird! The best bit about the gingerbread house is pulling it apart and eating it. Which reminds me... I have two tupperware containers full of smashed gingerbread house to eat!
Glue?? For assembling a gingerbread house?? That is funny! As you say, what's the point if we can't EAT them?! I just use hot sugar...some sugar in a pot, heat till liquid, let cool little bit, and then dip each piece in to glue together. Easy peasy! And yes, I love Elliot's curls! She hates them of course...
