Nursing cross hemispheres!

Wow - what a campus! Nursing in a global context. Today we have been touring the fantastic University of Saskatchewan. We have met Academics, simulation and clinical skills lab staff - we have met the Canadian students that will be heading over to see us in Australia in January - we have see the historical buildings and the impressive new ecologically built additions. We have exchanged views on how the nursing programme is runs in Australia and Canada, explored staff research and nursing tips across hemispheres.

But the most exciting thing that happened today is that we saw Florence Nightingale's actual medicine bag!

Lecture theatres with push-to-talk buttons on desks for students!

Very new additions...

...but lots of atmosphere left from the good old days

We found these charging stations scattered across campus. There are plugs to suit all devices. Genius!

Lots of light reflected down through the buildings by mirrors in the ceilings!

Walls were not just walls - there were whiteboards wall-to-wall all over! Get ready...brainstorm!!! We NEED this at Flinders!!!

Dentistry students have scribbled nerve-notes on the wall!

Amazing views!

The new Aboriginal student centre being build! No corners, every room and wall is rounded!

Elm trees in majestic lines

One could feel the historical elements of the impressive old buildings

Remote teaching by screens and robots to satellite campuses up in the north!

Here it is - Florence Nightingale's medicine bag!!!

From one of the windows we spotted our accommodation! (the brown building)

What better than finishing a busy day with a great meal. Two of my Canadian Academic colleagues took us out to dinner...mmmm!

Tomorrow we are leaving Saskatoon behind and relocating to more remote areas. Now for some sleep...if only this jetlag could go away!
