For homework, Milla had as a task to make a model of our garden. Currently their inquiry is about native animals, and up here we all have quite a bit of wildlife in our backyards.
First she made a gravel pathway.
I'm helping her cut little sticks for a foot-bridge.
Agnes and Elliot painted little rocks with pink nail polish to make mushrooms.
We've got a swing, so pappa is helping assembling the swing to a branch of the tree. Milla's garden is a family affair, haha.
Here is the ready result: She built our house of bark to the left, the big tree has got the swing in it, and lots of mushroom along the gravel path. Now it's time for the animals to move in!
Can you see them all? She meticulously drew all the animals on cardboard, coloured them in and then she cut them all out and placed the in their respective habitat. She also made cue cards with information on it; one card for the koala with information of what they eat, how the babies are raised on their mothers backs and how we can make our garden an attractive place for koalas. Each animal has a cue card! Pop helped her with the cue cards because he knows a lot about wildlife - she was busy all week finding information.
This is our Ringtail Possum - he loves dangling on the swing and stealing seeds from our bird feeder. |
This is the rainbow lorikeets up high in the tree; they are very colourful, sing for us and love eating seed from our ufo-bird feeder. |
We've got plentiful of spiders around the place!!! B-I-G spiders... |
This is Smogs, our koala. |
We've got many kookaburras - they laugh and laugh and laugh around bed time! |
Rainbow Lorikeets and Rosellas |
This is Lizze the Lizzard - she is a blue tongue lizard and likes lounging in the sun. |
This is our house. Milla made it out of bark. See, we even got a chimney! |
Ta-da! All done. Now she is bringing it to school to present it.
Oaw Milla, vilken fantastisk kreation!!! Vilken fantasi och vad fint det blev! Vilken tur att du hade så många hjälpsamma assistenter också!
