Royal Canadian Mountain Police with a side of Poutine!

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have been an integral part of Canada’s historical and cultural landscape since 1873, helping to form and protect a great nation, and playing a significant role in creating the Canadian identity.
Situated on the doorstep of RCMP Academy, ‘Depot’ Division in Regina, Saskatchewan, where Mounties have trained since 1885, the RCMP Heritage Centre is appropriately located where the tradition begins. So we decided to visit!

We caught the Sergeant Major's Parade where we watched as the drill staff put cadets through their paces. The parade includes a roll call and inspection of the troops, accompanied by the cadet band.

After the parade we explored the museum exhibition.

And of course - Halloween was on!

Happy Halloween!

We then went to have Poutine - messy but delicious (so they say. I didn't have any. The dripping grease just didn't make it only my plate:). A dish which consists of French fries, cheese curds and gravy may not sound like the most appetising meal on the planet. But, as the saying goes, when in Rome do as the Romans do. That means when you are in Canada, you simply must try poutine.
At poutineries there is nothing but poutine on the menu. Unlike McDonalds, there are no healthy options, just the famous dish often described by Canadians as a "heart attack in a box''.

Check it out - peanut butter and bacon burger!!! There is no end to the grease :-)
