Snow White, Mulan and the Magic Mirror (how to)!

For each End of Year Performance the school rents the fabulous Capri Theatre. It is the year 6/7s that decide on theme, and this year it was: Fairytales...with a twist! It is then up to each class to come up with a performance for the stage.

Milla's class decided on doing Mulan, and Agnes and Elliot's class were doing Snow White. Milla won the role as Mulan, Elliot Snow White and Agnes was selected as the Magic Mirror. Their twist was that strong girls don't need a prince - we can decide for ourselves!

Here the gorgeous girls are in front of the theatre, ready to go on stage.

And here are the crazy teachers' performing last act of the night - it was hilarious:

Did you like Agnes' magic mirror? We made it ourself - here is how we did it:

We used an old tennis racket to provide Agnes with a sturdy handle to hold on to on stage. Then we cut all the strings out it,  duct-taped the handle and cut out a mirror-decorative-tiara-shape out of cardboard, hole-punched around the edge of the cardboard and used strips to secure it to the top of the racket. Then we spray-painted the entire thing with gold paint.

It turned out good - it really looks like a mirror!

Afterwards we lined the inside rim with a row of battery operated Christmas lights from a cheap shop, it only cost us $2. We just taped the cord with sticky tape (transparent) around the inside of the rim and secured the battery-pack on the inside of the handle, also with see-through sticky tape. The battery-pack had a little on-off button, so every time she had a line, she would turn it on when she talked. It looked absolutely fantastic on stage!

Easy peasy lemonsqueezy!
