Cookie rescue!!

When I came home today I got a surprise...we have a new family member!

This little bird must have fallen out of a nest, and the girls stumbled upon him in the backyard. Gregg searched high and low, but could not find a nest anywhere. So now we have little rescue chick called Cookie, and we hope we can help him survive, although he is a tiny little thing.

The girls have made him a little warm nesting box and have enlisted everyone to make a nutritious food mix:
- mamma was sent outside to collect ants
- they asked our neighbour Jess to provide worms from her compost
- and they have enlisted pappa to grind seeds into a paste and smash the ants and worms into the paste for extra nutrition! We Googled what baby birds eat, but because we don't know what type of bird it is, we are not quite sure, however all bird types eat insects, hence we added them to mix.

Gregg is feeding him with a dropper, and he is one hungry little fella', so we will see how he goes. Fingers crossed!

Elliot has listed today events in her diary:

Pets by Elliot
Pets are animals that are cute and cuddly. We have 7 pets. They are called cookie, which is new to the family. We have Budgie, and Samba, and Rascal, and Fritz and Olive. And Douglas. We love them all. They are all so cute. And when we were out in the garden and we found a bird, I took him inside and kept him warm. And when we got Budgie we were at Kindy. And a bird landed on my head. I freaked out. When we got Olive he was smaller than he is now.

And that's the end of the story so far.

Good neighbours!

I love my neighbour M's newly renovated front yard - by the looks of it, so does the kids. It's the perfect hide'n'seek spot!

Young love...

Elliot: I have a crush on Mohammed. I want to marry him. We might make an African baby.
Me: But Mohammed is from Iran. Iran is not in Africa.
Elliot: Well, we can just move to Africa then.

Bowling Night!

We went bowling with Milla's class mates - and it was c-h-a-o-s...oh so many kids...but so much fun!

Looking at the scoreboard.....it was very, very close towards the end....but Agnes won all up! Yay!
(looking at the concentration on Agnes' face I'm not surprised, hahaha)

Little letter from the Tooth Fairy

Agnes lost another tooth, at school this time, and she humbly wrote a letter to the Tooth Fairy to clarify a few questions she had and also to ask if she could please keep this one.

Here is the letter she wrote:

Oh boy, was she surprised when she came home to find a little letter from the Tooth Fairy in the mailbox!

Thanks heaps, Tooth Fairy! That was awesome!

We love the Planetarium!

The girls are on School Holidays and we visited the Planetarium for a fun and educational experience - we took a journey to outer space and enjoyed a full dome movie: Tycho to the Moon.

First up an astronomy educator gave us a guided tour of the solar system, stars and constellations and other interesting objects found in the night sky.

And wow, was it awesome!

Then we watched Tycho to the Moon, a movie produced especially for the kids - shown on the Planetarium 360 degree full digital dome. Tycho is the dog that doesn't just howl at the moon…he goes there. Blast off on an amazing ride with Tycho and his friends, Ruby and Michael on a great adventure in space. We learned about night and day, phases of the moon, space travel and the lunar surface. We saw what it is like to play in zero gravity, watched meteors shoot across the night sky, witnessed earth from space and got a close up look at the sun!!

The visit to the Planetarium was a real hit with the girls! They loved all the exploring and have asked to go back real soon.

Agnes & the moon.

Happy holidays everyone!
