Sleepover!

Friday night we covered the floor with mattresses because the girls got to have one friend each come for a sleepover. Here they all are taking turns reading bedtime stories for each other.
Yay! Lots of fun and little sleep to be had :-)

#putoutyourbats

In an amazing display of the effect Hughes’ death had on the international cricket community, thousands of people have taken to Twitter to post their photos of their bats.
The phenomenon started yesterday when Paul Taylor, from Sydney, tweeted a picture of a cricket bat and baggy blue cap leaning on the wall outside his house using the hashtag #putoutyourbats.
The world pays respect to our late cricketer Phillip Huges with their bats - and so have we. The girls put our their cricket bat next to the front door.

You can read more about the Put out your bats campaign and the tragic passing of one of our cricketers here.

Rehearsing lines...

The school's End of Year Performance is fast approaching. This year Milla's class is putting up a theatre play about a Chinese girl called Mulan (ever seen the Disney version?) - and Milla got the lead part of Mulan, needless to say she is super-excited and rehearsing her lines every night. We have ordered a costume online that we can't wait to show you! Agnes and Elliot's class is doing SnowWhite, and Agnes is the magic mirror and Elliot is SnowWhite, so they have got rehearsing of lines as well.

We already have a SnowWhite costume, but we had to make a magic mirror for Agnes. Stay tuned!

The Chocolatiers

Milla had a friend over and crafty as they are, they decided to bake muffins. But we didn't have any eggs, so had to be a bit creative. We did have chocolate, so they decided to make some 'konfekt' instead. They added cinnamon and christmas 5-spice, and even chilli in some of them! Here is the results; love hearts, koalas, kangaroos and fishes with dark, milk and white chocolate! They even made some chocolate lollipops! With sprinkles of course, lots of them :-)

The Toothfairy was here!

After she lost her tooth last night right before bedtime, she ran and got the camera: 'we have to set up the camera with the timer!!'.
As Milla and Agnes before her, we set up the camera with the "motion-sensor-timer" on, so that if the Toothfairy came by in the middle of the night, we'd capture her on film! This is a tradition we have created for the first ever tooth lost - and finally it was Elliot's turn.

She was super-excited this morning when she found her 2-dollar coin alongside this picture with a special message from the Toothfairy!

F-I-N-A-L-L-Y

Elliot lost her first tooth!!! Oh, how she has been waiting for this day...in her own words: 'mamma, it feels wonderful'!

A B-I-G toothless grin!

Our Strawberry Fair

Our school fair is run by parents and is a very popular neighborhood event - we had an estimated 3000 visitors and earlier it has won the  ‘Australia Day Event of the Year Award’! Trust me, it didn't disappoint this year either - heaps of people, scrumptious food, high quality entertainment, fantastic stalls and sensational side shows. This was our very first fair as it is held on a bi-annual basis, and our little family contributed with a waffle stall...mmmmmm! With the fair school families raise money for improving the school facilities, such as the newly erected fence. We have an incredible community spirit up here in the Hills! And we are glad to be part of it!

Ready for action!

Henna tattoos all over the place

Milla's teacher performed with a 'put-together-for-the-occasion' band - we had prime view and danced along all morning

There was live music and plenty of entertainment - the kids had their pocket money and they ran all over the place playing games, participating in wet-sponge-throwing contests, of course face paining, Milla was busking and they were all performing with the choir...the entire day was full of fun - and once in a while they popped their heads in to our tent 'checking in' and having a break. We were SO busy that I completely didn't get to go around and take photos of all the fun :( But, on the other hand we were glad that our Norwegian Waffles were well received by the audience!

Elliot's facepaint just did not want to come off! This is two days later!!!

The Eisteddfod

The Adelaide Eisteddfod is a festival of music performance where musicians can showcase their skills and have a chance to win prizes.

In the lead-up to the big day, the girls were practicing their selected music pieces.
Milla, Agnes and Elliot all wanted to join in so they signed up to enter the singles, duo and trio category. Here is pictures from the big Sunday - yes, it was a bit daunting with a big audience and the judges-table evaluating their playing and giving them formal feedback afterwards.

Agnes playing Old McDonald had a dog in her singles category

Elliot played Chopstix

Milla played Claire de la Lune

Agnes and Elliot played a duet

Milla played a duet with her friend Sarah

Agnes played a trio with Stephan and Lucy

Elliot, Milla and another Milla played a trio together

They all played very well and all of them got an honourable mentions and certificates. On top of that Agnes won her category!

Congratulation to the little piano players! Well done!
