My Three Love Hearts

What a celebratory weekend! First of all - I love receiving flowers in the office unexpectedly...happy Friday!

Love the colours!

Then at home I got my three love hearts...one for Milla, one for Agnes and one for my little Elliot.

The girls had arranged for this surprise when Skyping with Besta. Knowing that I had wished for this necklace, they had 'secretly' arranged for Besta to buy it and send it to them! Early the next morning for our ceremony at the Town Hall, I got to wear it for the first time! L-O-V-E!

Badass Knitting Sticks!

Woooohoooo! Check out my most recent purchase: badass knitting sticks! I can't wait to create!

School-snaps!

Our school had an important visitor for the opening of the new buildings; the Minister for Eduction came to have a look and meet the kids. Guess who played the piano for her? Oh, they were so excited - they have practiced playing duets and trios for the Eistedfodd (Music show competition) so they were showcasing their new tunes!

Can you see Milla and Elliot playing a trio with another girl?

Agnes playing with her trio partners

Elliot is superconcentrated :D

Here are some snaps from the classrooms. Agnes and Elliot is learning about maths and fractions...what's a better way to learn that to use fruit and pizzas!!! (pictures courtesy of their teachers/school)

The Mural

I drive past this particular spot everyday, and there have been some kids working on a mural for a long time. Today it was finished! I like it!

Mascots for The Lady Reds!

Yesterday the girls were SOOOOOOOO excited! Along with their soccer team-mates they were invited to be mascots for the Adelaide United - Canberra United soccer match at the Adelaide Stadium! Oh the joy!! Marching out on the field you can spot Agnes and Elliot (in their green tops and white knee socks) holding hands with the 'big' players behind the umpires - some of these girls play for the Matildas - the National Women's Soccer team of Australia! They were so proud. And at half-time they even got to play a mini-math :D

My oh my what a good Sunday!

The TV Commercial is ON AIR!

Do you remember a while back Milla, Agnes and Elliot were actors in a commercial for TV? Well, it is out now! It is so funny - not to mention weird - having their faces suddenly popping up on TV! Not to mention all the stills - pictures in brochures and the newspapers!

The ad is for South Australian Health - and the movie can be found on the SA Health Government of South Australia as well along with other ads and campaign materials.
My little movie stars :D

The Snack Shack is DONE! How we built a free-range guinea pig garden

We L-O-V-E having little piggies and the girls are going out of their way to care for them. Elliot said 'I love being a guinea-pig mummy. Percy is my little baby!'. Of course we had to build a cozy little bungalow for them out in the garden. We wanted it to be a bit 'free-range' as I can't stand the little cages we often see bunnies and guinea-pigs in - they get no room to run! So first up we got a nice and big fence for them to roam around in. We just got it from eBay and it was super easy to erect - no screws at all!

Next up we went and bought ready made lawn for a soft underlay. This is real grass and we got it cheap (off-cuts) as we just needed a small area of 3x3m covered. It was a bit brown at first, but it has already picked up and is now nice and green. Elliot was in charge of the roll out.

Next up we moved their house from Somerzby - or the 'snack shack' as we call it - in and the bench we made out of old tree stumps we already had in the garden, and the mini-vegetable patch we made out of sleepers. Really the only expenses we had was the fence and the house. Then we planted parsley, spinach, lettuce and wheatgrass for their 'candy-land' nibbles (we had all the seeds already). We got the flowers from Ikea, the hanging pot from Cheap As Chips and the flamingo from LarkStore. All bought online as I never have time to go shopping! The girls' friends from next door was over to have a look at the new garden as it took shape as well.

Cuddling the piggies while waiting for the last finishing touches.

ALL DONE!! And it turned out to be sooooo cute - we are very happy with the result and we are sure that Percy, Fritz and Rascal will like their new home. I love how the bench turned out, and that it is all home made makes it even better. Welcome to the snack-shack!!!

The Royal Adelaide Show - Considine Style!

Yep, there was a little bit of everything at the show; cute little piglets...

...and candy floss, local produce, rides, wine...and...wait for it...DAGWOOD DOGS!!! Yes, that's right... Question: Name Mr Considine's all-time favourite Show-food. Honk-honk! Answer: What is Dagwood Dogs!
The giant Ferris wheel has started spinning, the showdogs are primped and preened, and the kids can finally exhale now that the gates of the Showgrounds have cracked open and there is another year of show bags for everyone.  Some may be lured in by the rides, others by the show comps, but most will drop by the food stalls for a little fried sustenance. Whether you love it or hate it, there’s something strangely addictive about carnival food. Think giant wisps of sickly sweet fairy floss, the famous strawberry sundaes and, of course, those controversial deep-fried Dagwood Dogs.

The first Dagwood Dogs of the day...yes, there were plenty more to come!!

We found a tractor for Andreas who is tractor-crazy!

Fascinated with the chickens' crazy hairdos and colours,  A&E posed for a photo with them...

...TA-DAAAAA...all done! We LOVE it mamma!

Here is the finished photo of the twosome with all their little fluffy friends.

We found the floating balls again! The girls have just rolled in...

Milla got the girls golden tickets to bounce up high...

And I even had to shoot hoops to win an extra little meerkat for the girls!!

Elliot decided to fish for enough points for a...

...a blue turtle!

Spiral apples for mid-morning snack...YUM!!!

We had a trip on the ferris wheel...

...and it went up, up and upwards...

...and on the way down it tickled in our tummies...

A brief stop at the top!!!

I just love this picture of Agnes!

Had to have a ride on that beautiful old fashioned merry-go-round

But I think their favourite of the day was the ferris wheel!

And then it was the Showbags...

Endless of chocolates in the bags....hmmmm which to choose...

And even show bags for the grown ups!

Pretty much a perfect day; sunshine, show bags and unlimited Dagwood Dogs (he managed 9!!!). We love the Show! Now to wait for next September...
